“After eight days had passed, it was time to circumcise the child; and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.” Luke 2:21
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
What is in a name? If you were privileged to have a child did you take great care in choosing his or her name? What about your name; did your parents have a purpose in choosing it? Is the name your parents chose for you the name you believe God calls you by?
The “name" in Jesus' time meant far more than simply a “label." One's name in Jesus’ day carried the meaning and purpose of the person's entire being and nature. Jesus' name means Savior, Son of God, God is With Us and more. His name sums up who he was created to be, who he became and who he is still today.
What is your substance, character and nature? How would you describe God’s purpose in creating the unique person you have become? Are you and I fulfilling all that God has intended for us in the name he has given us? What is your name that God calls you by?
Looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday on the first day of the New Year as we celebrate “The Holy Name of Jesus”.
Blessings and Joy in Him,
